Invisalign Treatable Cases
To determine if you have a case treatable with Invisalign aligners, your Calgary orthodontist will complete an assessment of your teeth, gums, jaw and bite.
Invisalign aligners can be used to treat a number of misalignment and malocclusion cases.
Your orthodontist will start by reviewing your relevant medical and dental history. This includes going over your dental records and your general medical history.
The details captured in this review, in combination with your oral exam and dental imaging (as outlined below) will help your orthodontist determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign aligners.
Your orthodontist will perform an oral examination to identify any issues that may not have been apparent in your dental records. This process will include:
Based on your medical history and oral exam, your orthodontist will determine which orthodontic treatment option is best for your needs, and present a preliminary plan for your orthodontic treatment.
If you are a candidate for Invisalign aligners, your orthodontist will send away your impressions and treatment plan so your custom aligners can be created.
Your orthodontist will discuss the details of your customized treatment plan with you, including topics like your role in the treatment process, the duration of treatment, appointment scheduling, insurance and payment considerations, and any items you may have questions about.
You should be able to schedule your first treatment appointment directly after your assessment. The initial fitting for your aligners may take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, so make the appointment with that timeline in mind.
