How Straight Teeth Affect Your Self Confidence

How Straight Teeth Affect Your Self Confidence

If your teeth are misaligned, you may find that you sometimes feel a little self-conscious about your smile. Orthodontic treatment can help!

Have you ever noticed that sometimes, you don’t realize something is bothering you until it stops bothering you?

Many of our patients here at Orthostyle Calgary feel this way when it comes to the increased confidence they feel in their smiles after their orthodontic treatment has concluded.

They didn’t realize just how negatively their confidence had been affected by their misalignments until they had a beautiful straight smile they were proud of!

Misaligned teeth are, of course an oral health problem that must be addressed for a variety of medical reasons. However, the very same factors that affect your health can also influence your self-esteem.

The most obvious way malocclusions affect your self-confidence is in aesthetics, of course. However, they can also have a negative impact on your ability to eat, speak, and even breathe normally, all of which can and do make sufferers feel self-conscious.

Many people only start to realize how much their self-consciousness over these issues has been holding them back once their orthodontic treatment is complete.

They had simply become so accustomed to feeling self-conscious and accommodating the oral health problems that came with their misaligned teeth, that it took having straight teeth for them to notice!

Many of our patients have expressed feeling renewed confidence in a wide variety of social situations; they laugh and talk more readily, and are more comfortable eating with friends and colleagues, too. They don’t hold back smiling in pictures anymore, and feel more confident when sharing opinions and suggestions in the workplace

If you feel your misaligned teeth are holding you back and damaging your confidence, orthodontic treatment may help. Contact our Calgary office today!
